Local resident, Jeff Baker, is organising a doubles petanque knock out competition at Etchinghill Village Hall

Starring Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Helen Mirren, Russell Tovey and Jim Carter
Career con artist Roy Courtnay (Sir Ian McKellen) can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Dame Helen Mirren) on-line. As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life.
MONDAY 18TH OCTOBER
FILM: 'Resistance' (15)
Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Clemence Poésy and Ed Harris
A remarkable story of a lesser known part of the French Resistance in World War Two. Before he becomes a world-famous mime artist, aspiring Jewish actor Marcel Marceau (Jesse Eisenberg) joins the resistance thanks to his friend Emma (Clemence Poésy), in order to save thousands of orphaned children from the Nazis. Their mission is to take the children safely across the Swiss border whilst being pursued by the ruthless SS Klaus Barbie. Based on the inspiring true story, this is a revolutionary tale of a selfless act that would forever change countless lives.

Anthony, an ailing, octogenarian London man refuses all assistance from his daughter as he ages. As he tries to make sense of his changing circumstances he begins to doubt his loved ones, his own mind and even the fabric of his reality.

FILMS ARE SHOWN ON THE 3RD MONDAY IN EVERY MONTH EXCEPT IN DECEMBER WHEN THERE IS NO SCREENING
In line with government and village hall recommendations, we encourage visitors to use the hand sanitisers located in the hall and to register your attendance using the hall's QR code and the NHS-Covid19 app on your smart phone
The wearing of face coverings is also encouraged during the event, whilst not eating or drinking. The outdoor patios and grounds are a great place to safely chat and enjoy refreshments during the interval

MEET AT THE VILLAGE HALL 10 AM
Please join our band of willing volunteers for our Autumn Litter Pick - hoops and refuse sacks, pick-up sticks, gloves and reflective jackets will be supplied. The litter collection usually lasts around 1-2 hours maximum

This year, as our funds are running low due to the effect of the pandemic, monies raised will go the ERA. Our insurance and licence fees alone are in the region of £700 pa and without your support we would be unable to continue to operate

We are delighted to welcome back members of the Shepway Brass Academy who have entertained us and accompanied our carol singing so well in in the past

The event will be held subject to Covid-19 measures and weather conditions prevailing at the time
A licence application has been made to Folkestone and Hythe District Council to hold the event and a decision is currently pending
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

At Etchinghill Residents' Association we raise funds and promote initiatives to serve the people in our community.
This is a public meeting and attendees will have the opportunity to vote for a new committee for 2021-22. There will be an open forum to discuss matters relevant to our hamlet and within the parish
Complimentary refreshments will be provided
The meeting is expected to last around an hour
